1996.01 - First Sim - Salary "Bull" Cap

Post by mrbornac » Tue Jul 06, 2010 1:36 pm

The league mandated destruction of the Hackensack Bulls continued this week, with further enforcement of the artificial salary cap which is levied just against the teams who know how to bring in income and market their franchises. The team was forced to part ways with long time catcher Willie McShane only because the team needed to drop salary. In order to bring up the youthful Vic Loucks to take over backup catching duty, the team also had to release AAA players Walter Torres and Evaristo Cassella.

In on-field news, the Bulls started the season 7-2, leading the Atlantic Division of the Frick League, leading the league in several pitching and hitting categories, including Batting Average and ERA. Will the Bulls be able to stay healthy this year? So far, so good, although the squad has been taking out their manager's frustrations on their opponents, earning suspensions both in Spring Training to Alistar Sharpe and Guy Corngood, and a regular season suspension of EIGHT games after being beaned by Ernest Nilson following a titanic home run by Edward Framaggio.

1996 is starting out with some promise, but the year is still in it's first weeks, so the battles have just begun.

Those three cuts really didn't cost you anything. McShane's OK, but the other two were chumps.
