Rockville's center fielder, Yi-ke Zang, was an All-Star last year for being one of the most productive two-way players in the BBA. He's back at it again, with a .339 average and 38 stolen bases. Last year, Zang quietly set a team record with 77 stolen bases in 154 games despite a nagging leg injury. This year, in just 39 games, Zang has 38 steals in 44 attempts, leading to the obvious question: will Zang, already the team record holder, be the first member of the franchise with over 100 stolen bases in a season?
"It's a goal I have only if it helps the team, which I know I am doing now because I am stealing at a 85% success rate," said Zang. "As long as I am not getting caught stealing I know I am heping."
Zang stole 11 bases in the last week without being caught stealing, both unofficial team records for one week. He also hit .433 for the week while striking out just two times, and scored 11 runs in the six games played that week.
"He's our leadoff man for a reason," said Pikemen manager Chet Rouse. "We're loving having him back and healthy."
Zang was hitting this well before fading last year while fighting a nagging injury, so his hot start is no surprise to anyone. The team is hoping that he remains healthy this year and finishes as strong as he's started in both of his full seasons.
"He's an amazing player," said Valeri Kharlamov. "Defensively great and great at the plate. We're lucky to have him."

When I started to develop players like Zang and Xuan and knew I'd use them, it changed my team philosophy somewhat.
