The rumors of an impending trade for star SP Williamson Prushnok turned out to not have much of a street life. Four days after the Malarky reported the rumor, Prushnok inked a 3-year deal worth $26.55 million. If that seems a risky price for a hurler who is already 33-years-old, tell it to GM Ben Teague.
Said Teague, "Willy really forced my hand with the season he is having. When it got to the point that I wondered what fans would do to me if I didn't sign him to an extension, I knew what I had to do." No kidding. All Prushnok has done thus far this season is turn in a 1.53 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and a stunning 5.85 K/BB ratio. Can he keep that up past his mid-30s? Fans and the front office in Hackensack will have a front-row seat to find out.
