Sticking Points 2038.12: Other Notable Rockville Draft Picks

Post by aaronweiner » Wed Apr 10, 2019 9:01 am

The Pikemen were thrilled to restock the farm in the last draft, but they drafted a lot of less touted players who could become major leaguers in the future.

RP Manuel Cruz (Round 6): Cruz isn't likely to become a starting pitcher, but he has a really good chance of being a major league reliever. Has a while to go to get there, but he's just 17.

OF/DH Cesar Montoya (Round 7): Montoya is another potential future major league DH. A poor fielder, Montoya has solid skills at the plate and will be, at worst, a 4A player or an injury call-up for the Pikemen in the future if he develops.

RP Blake Bullivant (Round 9): Bullivant is a classical fastball/curveball pitcher who has a big arm for 18 years old and could develop into a solid middle reliever.

RP Danny Leach, Danny Turnage, Meksa Ubora, Joe Adams (Rounds 10, 12, 13, 14): All somewhat of longshots, Leach, Turnage, Ubora and Adams all have potentially major league stuff and could provide organizational depth for the Pikemen. Velocity boosts might help each of them.

P Mark Yard (Round 11): A longshot starter prospect, Yard's stuff is well developed for 19 years old. He'll have to gain velocity and improve in some ways to become a major leaguer, but he has a shot of being a fifth starter candidate for the Pikemen in the future.
