The kid is young, and there is no question that the player he is replacing is a legend and possible Hall of Famer, but Ernest Watts is doing his best job to help ease the pain of the downfall of an icon.
Watts acheived something this last month that he won't be able to repeat many times - and that is winning the Frick Leagues Rookie of the Month award. The 10th pick in the 2006 draft, Ernie is only 23 years old, however, in just 74 games played, he already has 39 extra base hits, including 28 doubles. He is also the best defensive catcher we have seen in Buffalo in quite some time, so we look forward to his improving on his RTO numbers and keeping his fielding percentage high. We don't know if he will be able to bat 3rd of 4th every game for a decade, but we are very happy with what we have seen from Ernest Watts so far, and we ar excited to see where he can take us.

Watts is a stud. I don't know if he can keep up those splits with his ratings against LHPs, though, but catchers are the easiest position to platoon anyway.
