- Duane Bishop got off to a slow start and was shipped off to AAA. He's a victim of having an option left. This move was made so we could purchase the contract of Doug Eckhoff from AAA. The veteran hurler was once a very effective starting pitcher for Boise from 2057-2060 and should excel in relief--even at the crusty old age of 34--if we can limit his exposure to left-handed hitters. Eckhoff was the only player in our org with an impending opt-out date.
- Eric Wagner was waived/DFA'd to (seemingly?) open a place on the 40-man roster for Eckhoff. In his stead we've recalled Kit Markoulides to help out in the outfield. The 25 year-old C+ prospect made his resulting BBA debut as a platoon right rielder to pair with Tommy Harrison, a role in which he should fair alright even as his scouting report still requires a little filling out.
- Lefty Dhrtatman Seshadri was moved into the starting rotation because we like his youthful upside. He replaces Morris Chapa (who moves to the bullpen) and his 7.71 ERA. Chapa's 2062 ERA was a mirage compared to his 4.64 FIP and we're worried he's going to surrender too many homers as a starter. Realistically, you could say the same thing about any of our starters but it's Chapa who is chopped for now. His three pitch mix should play better as a reliever.
