2058.17: Bears' Cubs - Relief Pitching Prospects

In the final edition of the 2058 Bears’ Cubs series I’ll focus on players who spent the majority of their time as a relief pitcher during the 2057 season.

The best relief pitching prospects in the San Fernando organization are unsurprisingly either in AAA or the majors. This is because I don’t prioritize relievers in the draft so a decent relief pitching prospect has to first fail as a starting pitcher in the lower levels.

Honorable Mention
Doug McLaughlin
Pete Morris
Brandon Laws
Francis Purssell

Bob Butler came over in an offseason trade with Phoenix after several successful years with Toledo. He immediately bumped and already got a look in the San Fernando bullpen to mixed results. He'll be back but for now part of his value are his options. Despite being only 23 years old Joe Hulton is currently pitching for the Bears and holds a 1.86 ERA over 9.2 innings pitched.

The next tier is a couple of lower level relievers who received significant bonuses in the past year. Bruntfield ($250K) needs to improve his control. McCutcheon ($3.75M) will need a modest bump in stuff.
