2057.18: Good News Bears - San Fernando Snaps 13 Year Playoff Drought!

With a 5-3 win over the Hawaii Tropics on Tuesday the San Fernando Bears snapped a 13-year playoff drought. The Bears last reached the promised land in 2043 when they went 91-71 and earned a wild card berth. That was the longest active playoff drought in the BBA and the sixth longest streak in league history. The unfortunate distinction for longest active drought now passes to San Antonio who matches San Fernando’s 13 year run.

The Bears had low expectations entering the season, although they were raised somewhat after a mid-January free agent spending spree. The projection systems expected the Bears to play closer to .500 ball in a crowded Frick Pacific division. The San Fernando GM figures to draw strong consideration for Frick League GM of the year after improving the team’s record by a minimum of 23 wins.

There’s still a small chance San Fernando passes Twin Cities for the top wild card seed. If they don’t, they’ll almost certainly draw a matchup with Vancouver as either the second or third wild card team. The final Frick League wild card spot is still up for grabs between three teams with only a four-game sim remaining.
