2054.7: What's Bruin? Another Bear Debut

Post by BaseClogger » Sat Apr 01, 2023 1:57 am

7/8/2054

Hot on the heels of our announcement that Perry Wallace was debuting in 2054, we can also now officially announce the debut of AAA Brooks outfielder Jim Young. Young will now seize a majority of the playing time in right field, with Jose Hurtado doing more DHing. The team's trade of Ramon Pagan opened up the roster spot.

Jim Young was the San Fernado Bears' 3rd round pick in 2048 out of high school at a modest signing bonus. He was never a ranked prospect but he's never stalled out as he methodically rose through the Bears' system. His offensive profile orients towards power and features extreme platoon splits to favor him against RHP. He doesn't cover a lot of ground in the outfield but he has a plus arm.

Young hit a career high 26 HRs in 2053 in AAA as a contributoring member to their 2053 championship team. My hope is his defense can grade close to average in the corners and his power game transfers over to the BBA (at least eventually--he's only 23 years old).
