2053.5: Dinglebearries – Midseason Review of Hitting

Post by BaseClogger » Fri Jan 06, 2023 3:59 pm

Stats as of 7/21/2053

Team BA/OBP/SLG: .256/.323/.408
League Avg: .267/.327/.430

The Bears play in a park that favors pulled home runs down the line and increases BA a bit but suppresses other extra-base hits. It averages out to being slightly offense oriented by my estimation. That hasn’t helped the Bears this season, as the only above average facet of their game seems to be taking a walk. My team BABIP also doesn’t scream bad luck.

I recently traded away my leading home run hitter from 2052, Roberto Rivera, who was having a disappointing season. My other key sluggers, Reggie Vargas and Tyler Ober, are also underperforming; they slash .264/.332/.430 and .192/.310/.381 respectively. Big money CF free agent acquisition Arvin Duggan has been a slight disappointment too, only slashing .257/.297/.445. 2052 breakthrough player Curt Lehman has returned to Earth after hitting 19 HRs in 242 ABs. This season he sports a 77 OPS+.

On the plus side, Reggie Leeper represented me at the all-star game. The catcher is slashing .288/.337/.459. Role player Aaron Harding has broken out in a major way with a 142 wRC+ and only 25 Ks in 176 PAs. Wasim Ala has kept his BA high enough to be my most productive player by WAR. Marcello Custello is finally living up to his potential and looks useful with a .337 OBP.
