2052.4: Bear Necessities - Bears Make a Trade

6/2/2052 - Middle infield has been the biggest offensive area of need for the San Fernando Bears since GM Kurt Imber took over the team ahead of the 2051 season, and today he thinks he's his most significant aquisition in that area.
Aniruddha Meenakshisundaram hasn't made an impact at the sport's highest level, but 26 year-old is believed to still have some untapped potential around the league. The athletic, strong-armed shortstop may be a defense-first player, but his bat might be underrated. Meenakshisundaram's average bat-on-ball skills and gap power help carry his lack of over-the-fence power. His .284/.359/406 career line in AAA proves it.
Meenakshisundaram's left-handed swing fares better when he has the platoon advantage, so that's something the Bears will have to prioritize. It's unfortunate he swings from the same batter's box as entretched middle infielder Marcello Custello, but the Bears have wanted to move Custello to second base since the beginning of last season. The front office hopes Meenakshisundaram's arrival finally makes that possible.
Look for Aniruddha Meenakshisundaram to start most games against right-handed pitching batting ninth for the Bears. He can also fill in at second base, and don't rule out some time at the hot corner too.
