2045.2- Good News Bears: MASH

Post by usnspecialist » Thu Dec 31, 2020 6:01 am

Despite suffering some injuries (although not nearly to the extent as the pitching staff), the Bears offense has featured some truly standout performances in dragging the team to respectability. Leading the charge has been Angel Gonzalez, as the big splashy offseason acquisition has proven to be worth the hefty price paid and then some while rediscovering some of the form that won him a Silk at 21 years old. Needless to say, the Bears are thrilled to have secured his services with an extension prior to the season at 6 years/$106 million. Another guy who has taken his game to another level for the Bears is Quinn Richardson, as the youngster has finally settled into his vast offensive potential by nearing or exceeding career highs in nearly every offensive category while challenging for the Frick HR and RBI titles. All this at the ripe old age of 23 after the Charlotte Cougar organization gave up on their first ever draft pick.

While Gonzalez and Richardson have been the headliners, the supporting cast has been as good, or at times better, led by Reggie Vargas and Chuck Dickens. Vargas has continued his extra base prowess that he has shown consistently throughout his career, with the added bonus of just collecting extra hits to raise his AVG/OBP as compared to past years. Meanwhile Dickens has held down CF for the Bears most of the season with only a brief injury respite, and continued to overperform his ratings at the plate, providing some solid speed and slashing presence at the top of the lineup.

One name noticeably missing from the list of leading Bears this season has been Tai hoi Wie, who has suffered through his worst season with the stick since his rookie year all the way back in 2032. The only thing keeping him in the lineup on a daily basis is the fact that his batting eye is better than ever and threatening the all-time BBA record for walks in a single season. Additionally, rookie Roberto Rivera has shown he is more than capable of stepping into the big hole that was created by the trade of Alex Ramirez, putting up a respectable .272/.349/.395 line while playing a respectable 3B. Once his power fully arrives, Rivera is looking like another solid piece to the Bears moving forward.
