The 2045 season began with such high hopes in San Fernando, following a 91 win season in 2043 and a small step back to 82 wins in 2044, the front office made some aggressive moves in the offseason, bringing in big names like Angel Gonzalez, Gusby Pinkerton and Tadamichi Ando while sending superstar Alex Ramirez to Twin Cities. League wide analysts were surprised to see that San Fernando was actually rolling out a deep pitching staff full of young pitchers that actually threatened opposing offenses. Unfortunately for the Bears that depth has proven to be destroyed as injuries have ravaged the rotation throughout the entire first two months of the season.
The injuries started early with recently acquired Tadamichi Ando suffering a partially torn UCL in only his 2nd start for the franchise, which knocked him out for a total of 7-8 months, ruling him out for all of the 2045 season. To make matters worse for Ando, he had consistently rebuffed the franchise's efforts to buy out his last year of arbitration with a longer term offer but since the injury those talks have been shelved as the franchise waits to observe his recovery efforts before discussing any deals. Later that same month, holdover Bron Cortez suffered forearm inflammation which took him out for 3-4 months, leaving just a two month stretch at the end of the season where his services could be useful to the organization.
The big blow however came in late June when ace Felipe Guevara suffered a strained forearm which took him out of action for 6 weeks, leaving 3 of the top 4 pitchers for the Bears out at the same time, which will put a severe strain on the offense to prop it up and keep them in the hunt. The rash of forearm injuries has also prompted the training staff to recommend that the players on the roster conduct daily forearm strengthening exercises to ensure those types of injuries are kept to a minimum. The front office is looking at hiring a bevy of new employees to provide some assistance to the players in that endeavor.

If anyone here has spent some time in the Gaslamp District of San Diego, there is a homeless guy who is more than a bit overweight that just stands on the street corner wearing a luchador mask and no shirt doing nothing but shake weight. He doesnt speak or bother anyone, and is not always on the same corner. Maybe i should give him some employment.
