2044.1: Incredible News Bears- Sixto No-No

Post by usnspecialist » Thu Sep 24, 2020 1:37 am

Despite having a pitching staff that is routinely mocked league-wide for their lack of quality, for one day it was possibly the most unlikely member of that pitching staff who was the toast of the BBA. Pressed into service when oft-injured rotation member Al Barton suffered yet another injury, unheralded lefty Sixto Hernandez came into the rotation and threw a no-hitter against off-season kings Long Beach. Despite walking six men, Hernandez kept his pitch count at a high but not obscene 122 in twirling the league's 3rd no hitter of the season.

When asked about how he was able to keep the high priced opponents from earning their many millions of dollars, Hernandez shrugged and said "I trusted what my man Mike (backup catcher Michael Garrison) was putting down sign wise, he has had pretty good success against those guys this year". There is no word on how long Hernandez will remain in the rotation as it is openly known that the Bears are searching for more starting pitching, but regardless of his future, for one glorious day he was the best pitcher in the league.
