After a disappointing two year stretch that saw the proud franchise slip below 84 wins for the first time since GM Randy Weigand's initial season in 2032, the San Fernando Bears have made a rampaging return to their former standard, winning 91 games (the 7th 90 win season in Weigand's 12 years and 17th since 1995) and landing atop a congested wild card contest. This will earn them a faceoff with defending champions Louisville in the best of 5 Geoghegan round.
The Bears head into the series mostly healthy, with the only significant injury of note being young right hander Al Barton who will miss the entire playoffs with ulnar nerve entrapment. The offense has proven to be remarkably durable all season, with 5 players appearing in at least 157 games, with a 6th appearing in 146. If the team is to move on and renew their rivalry with the Sacramento Mad Popes, it will likely be on the backs of that potent offense, which led the league in runs scored with just shy of 900.

Great season, Randy. I hope I get the chance to bump you out of the playoffs in the next round.

scroll back thru the SAC/CAL TN archives to the playoff time frame from 2035-2037 (and same for SFV), you will see recaps of some epic series our franchises have had. 3 straight years of 7 gamers in doubleday where winner ended up making the landis.shoeless.db wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2020 7:57 amGreat season, Randy.
