2043.4 Good News Bears: Puckett Candidates

Post by usnspecialist » Wed Aug 12, 2020 1:28 am

To the surprise of few, the 2043 edition of the San Fernando Bears were powered by a high powered offense which topped the Frick League with 892 runs. Despite having a Silk candidate in Alex Ramirez, this lineup was actually fairly balanced and deep overall.

Players below are listed with their key stats and FL placings in parenthesis

3B Alex Ramirez was acquired in a blockbuster trade last season, and more than justified his price this year. One of the steadiest players in the entire league over the course of the year, Ramirez carried the Bears team out of the dumps of mediocrity to 91 wins and a top wild card spot.

WAR: 8.75 (1) 2nd 7.92

1B Tai hoi Wie has been a longtime rock of the Bears franchise and has built himself a solid HOF case in addition to being considered one of the greatest offensive players in team history. That consistent performance continued with a solid 2043 performance.

BB: 79 (T4)
WPA: 3.58 (13)
HR: 38 (T14)

DH Reggie Vargas has already established himself as one of the most feared hitters in the BBA over his first few seasons, more than ably filling the hole left by the departure of franchise legend Luis Maldonado as the left-handed power bat in the middle of the lineup.

LF Cris Martinez experienced a bit of a slump in 2042 following a breakout 2041 sophomore season, but he rebounded quite nicely in 2043, putting together the best season of his young career. With his arby years bought out for a relatively cheap price, Martinez is proving to be quite the return for an expiring Feliciano Rafael contract.
