With a career best OPS of .823 in 1998, it's not likely that he can keep this clip, but after April, Rod "He Hate Me" Smart has been doing a great job of hitting the ball consistently, hitting it hard, and driving in runs. Helping to secure a patchwork infield, he has also done a good job of catching the ball, a prerequesite for any first basemen.
While it appears inevitable that he will soon lose playing time to a platoon involving Ralph Butt, He Hate Me has secured a substantial amount of at bats this year thanks to his electric April.
Given the rather average performance of the pitching staff in April, we reluctantly grant Jordan Illingworth the prize of Pitcher of the Month, given his rather spartan .214 BABIP, relative to the rest of the staff. While this came in only 4 appearances, those were the only 4 chances he was given, and we will see if this flash in the very smallest of pans can keep up the good work. We have doubts. Given the fact that he was the 409th player taken in 1995, and this was his first month in the majors, we are pleased enough.

wow. A pitcher with 4 2/3 IP gets Pitcher of the Month (POTM)? Is that solely based on he being the leader in BABIP? With such a low amount of innings?
What has he exactly contributed to your team except 4 2/3 innings pitched and a 1-1 record? I would have thought someone such as Mitriani (4-1, 3.26 in 47 IP, 44K's, 1.19 WHIP), Garza (3-0, 3.03, 29+ IP), or even Wasson (7 saves) would have gotten the honor.
