2042.5 Mixed News Bears: Farewell Knud

Post by usnspecialist » Fri May 08, 2020 8:21 am

The Bears made headlines in late July when they announced the trade of top SP Knud Zeitler to the Twin Cities River Monsters. Zeitler was in the last year of his contract and for much of the season was unable to come to an agreement with the franchise on a new deal, before ultimately ending negotiations. While he was on track for a possible complementary pick had he left in the offseason, the Bears decided to move him for rising young SP Ramon Guerrero in a deal that was widely regarded as fair for both sides.

When asked for comment GM Randy Weigand had nothing but praise for the time Zeitler spent with the club, saying "Knud was the consummate professional his entire time here, and with our team falling out of the playoff race we felt it was the best decision for both parties to move him to a team that had a need for him in October. We are really excited about Ramon coming in, he has been developing quite rapidly in the Twin Cities system and we feel he will be a solid contributor for us in the future".
