Ever since his arrival from Las Vegas in the middle of the 2032 season, Jon Reed has been the beating heart of the franchise. Sure he was never the ace of the staff (for much of his decade with the team that honor went to Feliciano Rafael), and the record setting offense often stole most of the headlines, but make no mistake about it, Reed face of the franchise. Who could forget his wild and bombastic ride through the playoffs en-route to the 2034 title, and the way he perfectly symbolized the franchise by overcoming his warts to become a solid contributor (career ERA+ of 101 despite some questionable defenses behind him).
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and the bell tolled for Reed this season as his performance took a sharp decline that proved to be too much for even his most ardent admirers in the organization (and there are many). Reed found himself put on waivers earlier in the season and with no takers, there are strong indications the team will be looking to buy-out the remaining years on his contract. When asked for comment GM Randy Weigand was uncharacteristically subdued and declined at this time, saying that he will address the situation once the season is over. It would be a massive shock if Reed did not find his way back to the organization in some capacity when he does decide to put that glorious right arm to rest for his career.

I'm not going to lie, I nearly claimed him a while back when I seen him out there because 4,000,000 for a starting pitcher with any kind of history isn't awful but I think his time is probably done. to the UMEBA he goes.
