2040.1 Mixed News Bears: Down to the Wire

Post by usnspecialist » Fri Nov 29, 2019 12:36 am

After surviving 159 games in what has been a true roller derby in the Pacific Division, the San Fernando Bears find themselves facing a fairly simple situation. They are tied with the Valencia Stars for the last Wild Card spot. Facing their arch nemesis in the California Crusaders (who have already clinched the division and have nothing to play for), the Bears are largely in control of their own fate as to whether or not they play postseason baseball this year. The Bears have their top 3 pitchers lined up for the series in Sacramento, with Sergei Hopkins, Knud Zeitler and Kidanu Cherono scheduled to take the hill.

When asked about his team's chances of making the postseason, manager Abe Colbert was quoted as saying "with our offense, and those guys on the bump, we could not ask for a better situation. If we dont make it then we have nobody to blame but ourselves". That offense Colbert referenced has been the calling card of this Bears franchise for years now, and if they do in fact get into the playoffs it will be the reason nobody can ever count them out.
