When notification went out to the local and national media that notorious reclusive San Fernando Bears owner Emmitt “Doc” Brown was going to do a press conference there was natural curiosity. Since buying the franchise prior to the 2032 season and overseeing the subsequent move to San Fernando not much has been heard from Doc except for muttering about plutonium and Libyans while working in the garage he had built at the stadium. Needless to say there was quite a crowd gathered in the parking lot where the press conference was set up and there were 5 seats set up on the podium, but no signs of anyone as the time approached. Suddenly there was a blinding flash of light and a old 1969 VW bus pulled up with a screech of tires and Doc Brown climbed out in all of his frizzy glory before taking his seat in the middle of the table.
“I would like to thanks everyone for coming today, despite not knowing what I was going to say. What I have gathered everyone here today is to announce the opening of a new team Hall of Fame. Spanning the rich history of this franchise from our days in Buffalo to San Fernando, with that brief pit stop in Havana tossed in for good measure. We are starting today with 4 of the most esteemed members of our organization, all of whom I have rounded up today to introduce to you. Our first nominee should need no introduction but I will give him one anyway. Quite simply he is the greatest player in the history of the Brewster Baseball Association, ladies and gentleman I give you Steve Nebraska”.
As the door to the van opened a 38 year old Steve Nebraska came trotting out wearing his Buffalo Bulls jersey. As the collective audience sat with mouths open wondering where the 82 year old legend had seemingly found a fountain of youth, the owner started reading off the list of accomplishments Nebraska had in the franchise history and it truly was an impressive list.
