2038.5 Bad News Bears- Time to Hibernate

Post by usnspecialist » Sat Jun 01, 2019 7:30 am

For the first time since the 2032 season, the San Fernando Bears will not be participating in the playoffs. After what was a fairly lackluster season, the team completed a 10-2 stretch just to force a game 163 against the Long Beach Surfers, but ran out of gas in that game, falling thanks to some defensive lapses despite probable Nebraska winner Feliciano Rafael on the hill. In his post game interview manager Mike Wilkinson said that his guys were probably just out of gas. "We have played to the end of October 3 of the last 4 years with the same core of guys, and that takes a toll on you. While obviously we would love to play for another pennant, now that we are out of it I don't want my guys even thinking of picking up a baseball until February. Go do anything but baseball and just recharge their batteries".

When told about their managers orders, here were a sampling of the responses from around the clubhouse.

SP Feliciano Rafael: well I am from brazil, so I look forward to booking a flight and heading back home to lay on the beach and enjoy some of the sights if you know what I mean.

SP Sergei Hopkins My Uncle Vladimir wants me to go to Washington DC and see his friend about an internship. He said I couldn't miss the office building, it has 5 sides just like home plate.

2B Jared Gillstrom Well I have a meeting with my agent planned for early next week to figure out where I am going to play next year, I know this is my last big contract and I want to make sure I get the most out of it that I can.
