It is well known that 2038 has not gone well for the Bears as they are off to a last place start in the loaded Pacific Division with a 14-18 record. Despite the rough start however, it is very clear to everyone that the team is united and confident they will overcome their initial struggles and remain a factor in the playoff hunt. There was no better evidence of this than walking into the locker room before today’s game vs the Twin Cities River Monsters. Always known as a loose fun loving team that is never afraid to speak their mind, the recent comments by Boise GM Jeff Palin regarding their ballpark naturally drew some sharp observations from the group. Having just pitched last night against Edmonton, a clearly inebriated Jon Reed was his usual outspoken self, saying “that yokel from Boise wouldn’t know anything about a successful baseball franchise if he was sitting in the front row of the right field bleachers here at Chico’s Bail Bonds”.
Yelling across the locker room to his battery mate Ares Papadias to “turn on the spuds theme song”, Reed gave a nod of approval as the oldie pop song “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake came on. Singing along with the intro Reed (who is well known to frequent karaoke joints around the San Fernando area while enjoying his nights out on the town), belted out “I got this feeling inside my bones, it goes electric, wavy when I turn it on. All through my city, all through my home, we’re flying up, no ceiling when we’re in our zone”. Giving a smirk to the gaggle of reporters before disappearing into the training room to a round of applause for the musical effort Reed said “tell Palin if he has a problem with how we do things here in the valley, don’t give a chickenshit interview bashing our stadium, come down here and say it to our face. Better yet, suit up and play a game, even at his age he cant be any worse than the guys they are running out there now”.
