2037.4- Great News Bears: Maldonado Puts his name in History

Post by usnspecialist » Mon Feb 11, 2019 7:54 pm

2037 truly has been a year to remember for young Luis Maldonado, as the superstar has truly grown into his own to join established megastars Jared Gillstrom and Tai hoi Wie in giving San Fernando easily the best top 3 of any team in the Brewster and arguably one of the greatest trios of all time. The accolades of the other 2 parts of that triad have been well documented before and will be again in the future, but somehow despite all of his accomplishments Maldonado has flown under the radar except in discussions of all-time trade heists. His performance on the field this season has rightly shone through however, as he has put together the best power season in the history of the franchise. With his 53rd HR he has tied the long-standing franchise record set by Dave Winfield in 1986 and his 144 RBI are 2 short of the team record currently held by Wie from 2035.

A significant portion of his power numbers have come in the 2nd half of the season, particularly the months of July and August when he had 15 and 11 HR respectively. Asked if there was a reason for the surge Maldonado smirked and said "well i thought i had done enough in the first half to prove i was the best RF in the game, but apparently some people thought Andy McKinney from some bumfuck town in Ohio was a better choice. I just took it as motivation to go out and prove to them that they were completely wrong and well, i think the results speak for themselves don't you think"? When you factor in his stellar baserunning (40 SB in 46 attempts), and exceptional defense in RF, Maldonado has put together a season at the age of 24 that not only makes him a strong contender for his first Sawyer Silk Award, but certainly proves he is a better ballplayer than Andy McKinney.
