2037.1 Mixed News Bears: What a Load of Bunk

Post by usnspecialist » Wed Dec 05, 2018 5:14 pm

While the Bears have a great run through the Frick League last October, to say it ended with a bit of a disappointment is a bit of an understatement. GM Randy Weigand was heard to utter the words "fucking disgrace" when asked about his squad's performance against the Rockville Pikemen. When asked about that this spring, Weigand elaborated by saying "nothing against Rockville, they are a great team and a worthy champion, but we feel that we are in that category as well and our performance just didnt show it".

Weigand put his trader hat on (although some would say he never takes it off) and decided to rectify that problem the best way he knows how. Out were a group of players (2036 1st rounder Antonio Coronado, underachieving OF Victor Guerra, over the hill RP Bob Sanderson and minor league MIF Alan Williamson) in exchange for one of the most effective power hitters in recent league history in Bunk Moreland. In addition to being an absolute masher at 1B (although he will likely DH for the bears with Tai hoi Wie on the roster), Bunk will bring leadership and stability to the clubhouse with his dry wit and superior sense of sartorial style.

"Bunk has been a guy I have coveted for a long time, but Ed (Murphy) never had any interest in dealing him" said Weigand. "When he reached out and said he was willing to consider moving him, I knew this was a chance I couldnt pass up and made the move".

One added bonus for San Fernando is that Moreland has a very reasonable contract, which is key as the team has a lot of young stars coming up for their paydays soon. When asked about that, Weigand laughed and said "I guess Ed just got Jimmy McNulty (Moreland's agent) shit faced when he negotiated with him, not that he had to work too hard for that to happen".
