In what could only be described as a mildly disappointing season for the Bears offense, they finished the season 4th in total runs as injuries took their toll on some big name players. While some younger players (namely Angel Garcia (.255/.363/.448, 28 HR, 78 RBI)) stepped up very nicely and gave hope for the future, there is really only one Bear worth any mention for the Silk this season. Luis Maldonado (.275/.355/.546, 46 HR, 129 RBI) took his Puckett/Zimmer season from last year and essentially replicated it, all while having to shoulder much more responsibility due to the previously mentioned injuries. The 23 year old certainly has a bright future and looks to be a mainstay in the Bear lineup for many years.

I don't think Maldonado has a shot at the Silk, but that's not to take away from the fine season he had this year. It's probably McNeil's to lose.

o I know he wont win, but I write this both to get TN (which I needed) and also to try and get him some down-ballot votes that he is deserving of.

I'm definitely a guy who expects young guys to be growing inside their ratings bands. Assuming such, Maldonado's time is definitely coming.
