The Buffalo Rag 1999.6

The Bison train just keeps on rolling. Buffalo has gone 10-5 in the past two sims leading up to the all star break. The nice team balance continues and a new piece has been added to the offensive side of things.

1B John Johnston was acquired in a trade with Las Vegas for struggling 1B Kevin Maas, bullpen standout MR Ernest Nilson and medium prospect 1B Ethan Burns. Johnston has provided an instant spark to the offense going 280/321/580 while knocking 4 HR and 12 RBI in his games with the Bison. Although Johnston is on his third team of the season, he will be home to stay here. The Bison are actively negotiating a contract extension with him in order to avoid arbitration.

Another big highlight in the past couple sims has been the play of C Jeremy Hunter. He had a hit streak extend to 28 games before it came to a halt. Hunter slapped many multiple hit games in that streak, hitting 457/469/630 in the last 30 days.

A TN wouldn't be complete without giving an update on SP Amen Mitrani. The undefeated pitcher (17-0) has been a complete stud this season almost carrying the pitching rotation on his own. He has chalked up 3 CG, 1 of which was a shutout. On the season he is also maintaining an QS% of 85%.

The Bison sent 5 players to the mid summer classic along with the aforementioned Mitrani and Hunter, Alistar Sharpe, CL Richard Wasson and SP Melvin Ripken. This is the 2nd appearance for Hunter and Wasson, while Ripken is heading to his 4th (1st as a starter) and the first for Sharpe and unbelievably Mitrani's first. I guess it just shows you how much pitching talent there is in the league if Mitrani is just heading to his first all star game.
