The Buffalo Rag 1999.4

And the Bison just keep on rolling. Buffalo closes up May with an overall record of 39-16, best in the MBBA. But, we are only about one third of the way through the season, so let's not go patting ourselves on the back for mounting a 15 game lead in the division.

Buffalo sports the best pitching staff in the Frick allowing only 3.7 runs per game on average. That is a good looking stat when you match it up against the 5.1 runs per game average that the offense is scoring. The backbone of the pitching staff is Amen Mitrani who is making a case for the Steve Nebraska Award. Currently, Mitrani sits at 10-0 with a 3.11 ERA, 2.40 FIP (for you Lynchy!) and leads the FL in K's at 124 in his 13 games started. The strikeouts equate to over 11 K/9 and almost 6:1 K:BB ratio. Sammy who?

The star on the offensive side of things has to be Alistar Sharpe. He was just named FL Player of the Week and is on an absolute tear. He has 17 HR already (50 HR pace), which would hurdle his career best of 25 easily. The third baseman has clearly accepted his role as the offensive leader of the team by batting 346/384/649. Superstar in waiting C Jeremy Hunter is finally coming around and getting his act together. Plus, all of this is happening while scrappy utility guy Billy Johanson has yet to see the field this season. He started off the year on the DL and won't be back until late June.

Just this past sim, the Bison made a trade with JL leading California Crusaders. The Bison sent a few transition players and prospect OF Rick Daly to get utility infielder Bobby Hines and MR stud-to-be Felix Padilla. Hines is a few seasons out, bu should develop into a decent player while Padilla is very close and may see some time in the big leagues yet this season.

You are definitely the team to beat right now in the FL!
