26.01 Dave Wilfer's New Name

He just may be the most boring man in baseball.

Dave Wilfer wakes up every morning at the exact same time: 7:00am. Early, but not, like, weird early. He eats wheaties every morning and then walks down to the ballpark. He works hard at practice -- but not, you know, uniquely hard -- and then he goes home. He doesn't say much, and what he does say is pretty damn boring.

He looks like that guy from sales, you know, the one with the brown hair? I dunno, maybe he doesn't look like him. But he LOOKS LIKE he would look like him, you know?

His teammates have nothing but good things to say about him, but not a lot of good things. Because, you know, what is there to say about Dave Wilfer? He doesn't drink, he doesn't chew, and he doesn't seem to get around with girls much either. He packs his own lunches because the team provided options -- usually a peanut butter sandwich -- are "too spicy", and his favourite band is Coldplay.

When he's not playing baseball, Wilfer's hobbies include taking his shoes off at the door, waiting in line for things and watching The Big Bang Theory.

In response to his chronic boringness, Dave's teammates have christened him with a new nickname: Dave Wilfer. When asked about his new monicker at spring training, Dave "Dave Wilfer" Wilfer responded in typical fashion: "I'm ready to give it 110% and I'm happy to be here."
