So, just when you thought we were down and out, the Bison are stampeding back into playoff contention. A spectacular July helped hold them in the wildcard hunt and the mediocre August (so far) has not hurt them.

Big news on the injury front, both negative and positive. First, the negative. Current #2 starter David Blain is out with a long term injury. On the positive side, leading wildcard contender Hackensack has suffered a loss to their rotation as well. Ron Burgundy is out for the remainder of the regular season, so perhaps the loss of Blain will not be as hard as it could be. The emergence of Cletus Bullrush, Jr. as a starting pitcher has helped to soften the blow. Bullrush, Jr. is 3-1 in his first 7 starts this season, with a 2.88 ERA, 48 strikeouts and only 8 walks.

On the offensive side of things, the bats have heated up. In their last seven games, superstar catcher Jeremy Hunter and OF Oscar Vizcaino have combined to hit .528 with 3 HR and 11 RBI. Free agent bargain Kevin Greene has also been hot, going 15 for 36 (.417) while hitting 2 HR and getting 9 RBI in his last 10 games.

Our 7-12 August has helped you and Hack come from 10 games out to 3.5 and 5. We need to turn it around again.

I'm not surprised to see Cletus pitching as well as he is as a starter. Guy is going to be a star for a long, long time.

You're making me nervous, that's for sure.

I saw you right behind me in the WC race and kind of thought to myself, "Buffalo??? Are they still in the league???"

Here we come
walking down the street
look a little bit funny
to everyone we meet
Hey! Hey! Hey! We're the Bison!
People say the Bison are down
And we're too busy winning
so we're gonna hang around

:bye:
