The Buffalo Rag 1997.3

Post by cramsey51 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 9:24 pm

The Bison have been playing good ball, but they need to be playing better if there are any hopes of them making it to the postseason. Here's a couple of the high & low -lights of recent.

SP Jim Cramer is 6-1 in his last seven starts and 7-2 in his last 10. The team is 8-2 in those same starts. Twice in his last 3 starts he has struck out 10 batters. I think it is safe to say that he is on a bit of a hot streak.

To start the season, April & May specifically, Jeremy Hunter was hitting .328. Since then, he is only hitting .250. It seems he has hit a bit of a wall and in doing so earned himself some time on the bench.

In the first two weeks of August, Ryan Savaikie has started scorching hot. He is hitting .500 with 2 HR, 6 RBI and a .556 OBP. In fact, he started out so well, it earned him the FL Player of the Week Award for the first week of August. It was his second league award since coming to the bigs. In 1995, he earned the FL Rookie of the Month Award for August. Looks like August is his kind of month.

Did you know that the Buffalo's AAA affiliate, the Syracuse Chiefs are carrying a payroll of over $23,800,000? That's almost $23,000,000 more than what the lowest in AAA is carrying, the Santo Domingo Tortugasand almost 30% more than the next closest team, the St. Paul River Bandits

At just 2.5 out of the wild-card spot, I think there's a solid chance you can make the playoffs, especially given the end of your schedule (4 games against terrible Montreal, a chance to gain ground on Atlantic City with 3 games and 5 games against Hackensack, which should be sitting its starters at that point).

It lines up similar to how my schedule finished last season. Just hope the boys don't choke like last season. I'm 7-9 and 6-10 vs. AC and HAK respectively.

Lately 5-4 and 6-4 sims are just not getting it done.
