2055.05: San Fernando Top 25 Prospects (5-1)

11/14/2054

The San Fernando farm system is at a bit of a cross roads after the promotion of several relevant prospects during the 2054 season. The system as a whole is lacking in top tier talent but does boast 21 of the top 500 prospects according to Prospect Pipeline.

Below is how I rank the 5th to 1st best prospects.

5) SS Frank Jardine
Age: 17
OVR 20 POT 40
R .237/.332/.465

San Fernando's top pick in the 2054 draft, teenager Frank Jardine is still very early in his professional career. Jardine profiles as an average to above-average hitter at his peak who won't stick at SS but has enough defensive skill to be effective at 2B and the corner outfield positions, with occassional stints in CF.

4) RF Tommy 'Twinkletoes' Harrison
Age: 19
OVR 40 POT 50
A .321/.374/.536

The Bears were pleased to watch Tommy Harrison re-assert himself in A ball in 2054 after struggling with over-promotion in the Des Moines system in 2053. Harrison was the chief return in a 2053 midseason trade that sent long-time Bear Roberto Rivera to the Kernels. Twinkletoes is a left-handed platoon bat with extreme splits who should be average defensively in the corner outfield.

3) SP Candrata Parmar
Age: 22
OVR 40 POT 50
AAA 60 IP, 19 BB, 72 K, 3.60 ERA

Candrata Parmar was a little regarded prospect entering the 2054 campaign, having been signed as a minor league free agent in 2053 after getting released by Rocky Mountain. After dominanting in relief in SA in 2053, Parmar proved elite as a reliever across AA and AAA in 2054. San Fernando gave him four starts at the end of the season and will challenge the upstart prospect with starting again in AAA again to begin 2055. The lefty's strong three-pitch mix and high stamina rating can only be held back by his mediocre movement rating. Parmar was ranked the #75 BBA prospect this offseason.

2) SP Morris Chapa
Age: 21
OVR 35 POT 50
AA 25.1 IP, 8 BB, 14 K, 1.78 ERA

Image

Morris Chapa was the Bears' 1st round pick in the 2050 draft (12th overall). He's spent the past four seasons ranked between #79 and #98 in the BBA top 100 prospect rankings but fell off the list this offseason. Chapa has battled through some injuries but hasn't had an ERA above 4 since Rookie ball in 2051 thanks to his well-rounded ratings. He'll likely start back at AA next season but could be on the Bears' radar by mid-year.

1) SS Etugrul Inonu
Age: 20
OVR 20 POT 50
R .247/.297/.363

Image

The primary return in a midseason trade that sent Ramon Gonzalez to Las Vegas, Inonu was named the #85 best prospect in the BBA this offseason. He combines well-rounded defensive ratings with a fairly high offensive ceiling. Inonu is unlikely to stick at SS, but he'll be above average at 2B and can also cover 3B or a corner outfield position. If his actual ratings increase over the offseason he could start in A ball, otherwise he's ticketed for Short A.

For comparison's sake, here is how the game ranks my top prospects.
