2046.2: Great News Bears-Bears Season Led by Pitching?

Post by usnspecialist » Sat Mar 27, 2021 1:31 am

The 2046 season has seen the Bears regain what many in the organization feel is their rightful place, contending for a division title. The way they have gone about it is rather different than what has become expected of the franchise however, as they are doing it mostly on the back of their pitching staff. Known historically for a deep offense that scares opponents into submission 1-9, the 2046 offense is instead built around the twin towers of corner outfielders Reggie Vargas and Angel Gonzalez, along with a solid contract year campaign from Angel Garcia. The legendary Tai hoi Wie is finally showing some cracks in his foundation, as the team has moved him out of his spot at the top of the order in the hopes that it will jumpstart his season.

The key to the Bears season has been 2 guys that were not even in the organization at the end of last season.Jorge Moreno was acquired in the offseason from Montreal and has put up numbers that are worthy of serious All-Star consideration as he has worked his way into the top 10 pitchers in the entire BBA. While the prospects sent the other way have proven to be capable lads, they are quite a few years away from the BBA and the Bears surely do not regret seizing the opportunity when it arose. The other new acquisition is Aki Kondo (himself a former Bears prospect before being traded away as the crown jewel in the Jared Gillstrom deal which played a significant role in the 2034 title season). Kondo was the player who finally convinced GM Randy Weigand to open up his checkbook this offseason, with a $99m deal that represents a 5x increase over the largest guaranteed amount Weigand has handed out in FA over his 15 seasons running the team. Kondo has proven to be worth every penny to this point, giving the team a steady presence at the top of the rotation.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
