How much good can one take from 104 loss team, worst record in the FL and 56 games seperating you from 1st place? Well we will take a look to see what positives there are.

1. For the first sign of hope, we look to AAA. The Gamblers own the #4 farm in the MBBA, and their AAA club, the Brooklyn Bombers, had a record of 80-50 on the year, won their division and were a Game 7 away from the AA Championship Series.
2. The Brooklyn Bombers had the best scoring team in AAA. Thats a good sign for the worst scoring team in the majors.
3. The Gamblers had 2 singificant rookie callups in 1995. One was SS Ossian Fallon. He played in only 120 big league games - and smacked 23 homeruns. He had a 46-42 BB:K ratio and posted an OPS over .800. His 7 homeruns in July, earned him rookie of the month honors.
4. The other rookie callup was SP Jim Brocktrup. After a disastrous slow start, Brochtrup finished with a decent 4.08 ERA and a 5-11 record. At one point, Brochtrup was 0-5 with an ERA close to 8.00. Significant progress for the rookie, who will likely assume the #1 role until Smith returns from injury.
5. Rule Vs. The Gamvblers had 4 players that could not be demoted - thanks to a Rule V draft that happened before we did. In order to retain a portion of the talent the club lost in the Rule V that did not happen, we had to keep these players and hope they pan out eventually. So far, they sucketh. Lets see what heppens in the future.
6. the club has only 3 players over 31 (2 thanks for fake Free agency that happened) and only one significant player over the age of 28 (Flavio Luna. With a good AAA club, young developing players on the ML level, and no further imposed roster restrictions, the Gamblers could make serious strides to improve in 1996. Or we could suck again.

Stay tuned!
