Gamblers Announce Retirement of Pedro Trejo

The Atlantic City Gamblers formally announced the retirement of left fielder Pedro Trejo, who spent his entire eleven-year professional baseball career with the Atlantic City Gamblers organization.

Trejo, 28, was drafted by the Gamblers with the 12th pick in the 5th round (162nd overall) of the 2039 BBA Amateur Draft. Trejo succeeded in the minor leagues for the Gamblers, finishing four of his ten minor league seasons with a 1.7+ WAR. Trejo spent two seasons (2039-2040) with Rookie Class Albany, finishing his Rookie Class career hitting .248/.326/.403 with 31 runs scored, 22 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, 23 RBIs, 1 stolen base in 3 attempts (.333 success rate), and a 0.9 WAR in 288 plate appearances (80 games / 66 starts); in three seasons with Class-Short Season A Bogota (2041-2043), Trejo finished his Class-Short Season A career hitting .312/.391/.423 with 146 runs scored, 64 doubles, 6 triples, 5 home runs, 124 RBIs, 29 stolen bases in 40 attempts (.725 success rate), and a 4.0 WAR in 934 plate appearances (208 games / 197 starts); in two seasons with Class-AA Trenton (2044-2045), Trejo finished his Class-AA career hitting .288/.354/.382 with 148 runs scored, 72 doubles, 9 triples, 5 home runs, 108 RBIs, 14 stolen bases in 28 attempts (.500 success rate), and a 2.9 WAR in 1,239 plate appearances (266 games / 263 starts); and in three seasons with Class-AAA Brooklyn (2046-2048), Trejo finished his career with Class-AAA hitting .265/.317/.352 with 171 runs scored, 64 doubles, 15 triples, 12 home runs, 107 RBIs, 64 stolen bases in 101 attempts (.634 success rate), and a 2.9 WAR in 1,612 plate appearances (393 games, 370 starts).

Trejo was called up in September of 2047 and 2048 to the Gamblers, making two plate appearances each year. He his two doubles with a run scored and an RBI in 2047; and went 0-2 in 2048. Despite his limited action, his overall performance with the Gamblers organization earned a roster spot for the Gamblers out of spring training. The season-ending injury to star left fielder Cinema Jones resulted in Trejo seeing significant action; however, he struggled with the Gamblers, finishing the 2049 season hitting .178/.213/.200 with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 RBIs, 3 stolen bases in 4 attempts (.750 success rate), and a -0.9 WAR in 94 plate appearances. Trejo was ultimately released on 09/08/2049, did not sign with another organization, and now officially announces his retirement.

On Trejo's retirement, assistant general manager Kean Probyn stated "Pedro was truly a professional despite the hardships of this past season and we appreciate the positive attitude he brought every time he was in the dugout."
