Atlantic City Gamblers - The Bad (Pitchers)

The following pitchers disappointed in Atlantic City during the 2043 season:

Right-handed relief pitcher Jarod Wilson

Wilson, 35, was the lone mainstay on the Gamblers' roster from the 2031 season, the first season for the Gamblers under BBBS Enterprises / Keith Bleeker ownership. A fan favorite and consummate professional, Wilson's performance had finally declined to the point where the Gamblers' front office could no longer justify keeping him on the roster. Wilson finished the 2043 season for Atlantic City 1-0 with a 5.44 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, a 5.72 FIP, 21 strikeouts, and a -0.5 WAR in 41 1/3 innings pitched (17 appearances, 1 start). Opponent's slashed a strong .301/.354/.515 against Wilson. The former fourth round pick for the Gamblers in the 2029 BBA Draft was released on July 29th, eventually agreeing to a minor league contract with the Manama Pearls organization.

Left-handed starting pitcher / relief pitcher Félix Sánchez

Sánchez, 26, vastly disappointed in his second BBA season, finishing 0-5 with 1 save in 1 attempt (1.000 success rate), a 5.38 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, a 5.22 FIP, 65 strikeouts, and a -0.3 WAR in 77 innings pitched (31 appearances, 7 starts). Sánchez finished last season with an impressive 8-4 record and 3.58 ERA, though a 1.36 WHIP and 5.48 FIP did signal that the results may have been too good to be true. Opponents slashed .297/.375/.507 versus Sánchez in 2043, which represented an OPS against jump of over 100 points. Sánchez may get another shot on the Gamblers' roster in 2043, though he is far from a lock.

Right-handed starting pitcher Chet Parrish

Parrish, 30, actually improved on his disappointing 2042 campaign, but the results still fall far short of what was expected when he signed with the Gamblers for four years / $46.5 million. Parrish is entering the final year of his contract, one in which he is owed $9.5 million, having finished the 2043 season 10-9 with a 4.62 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, a 5.10 FIP, 85 strikeouts, and a 0.5 WAR in 179 1/3 innings pitched (33 starts). Compared to last season, he saw an improvement in ERA (64 points) and FIP (61 points), but did surrender a similar slash line to last season (12 point OPS against improvement).
