Hitting Coach, Pitching Coach Out in Atlantic City

As has been rumored and expected for much of the second half of the 2040 season, the Atlantic City Gamblers will bring in a new hitting coach and pitching coach for the 2041 season. The team officially informed hitting coach Salvatore Caprioglio and pitching coach Tom Rodriguez that their contracts would not be renewed and released the following statement through the team's media department:

"Upon the conclusion of the 2040 season, we have informed hitting coach Salvatore Caprioglio and pitching coach Tom Rodriguez that their contracts would not be renewed. Although the recent performance of the team failed to meet the expectations bestowed upon them by the organization and fans, Salvatore and Tom were valued employees who brought a positive attitude and honest effort on a day-to-day basis. We thank them for their contributions and wish them the best moving forward."

Caprioglio, 52, spent eight seasons (2029-2036) as hitting coach of the Charm City Jimmies, helping the team earn playoff berths in four consecutive seasons from 2031 through 2034. After departing Charm City, he joined the Atlantic City Gamblers organization's Class-A Long Island affiliate as a hitting coach for the 2037 season, helping the team reach the playoffs. He earned a promotion for the 2038 season, joining Class-AA Trenton Generals as the hitting coach, again helping lead the team to the playoffs, which culminated into the Gamblers' hitting coach job for the 2039 and 2040 seasons.

Rodriguez, 58, was a highly anticipated signing when he joined the Gamblers in the 2038 offseason, coming off of a two-year stint as the Edmonton Jackrabbits' pitching coach, which included back-to-back playoff appearances and a Landis Memorial Series win / BBA Championship during the 2038 season. Prior to his stint with Edmonton, Rodriguez worked thirteen years as a pitching coach in the minors, including two years at the Class-A level and eleven years at the Class-AAA level, earning one Elite Cup (AAA championship) win during the 2028 season. He also spent one year as a pitching coach for the EBA's Brussels Eagles during the 2024 season, helping the team win the European Cup (EBA Championship).

Gamblers' manager Jack Parkinson, who just completed his first year as manager at the BBA level, is expected to be safe. Under this assumption, it's believed he will have significant input on the remainder of his staff.

11 game improvement sounds good. Of course, the first 11 games are the easiest. :)
