Gamblers Hire Jack Parkinson as Manager, Mark Kidd as Bench Coach; Joe Lockhart Returns to Organization

The Atlantic City Gamblers have named their next manager, selecting internal candidate Jack Parkinson following his success at multiple levels of the Gamblers’ minor league system. Parkinson, 60, reportedly runs a tight ship, providing a level of discipline that Gamblers’ GM Joshua Biddle believes will be important as the Gamblers’ begin to retool.

Parkinson joined the Atlantic City Gamblers’ organization for the 2033 season as manager of Class-A Long Island Legion, where he spent three seasons and compiled a 210-181 (.537) record, going 67-63 (.515) in 2033 with a fourth place finish of four teams in their division, 75-55 (.577) in 2034 with a second place finish of four teams in their division and a playoff appearance (first round exit in Outfield Rail Series 2-1 to the Cumberland Miners [Charm City Jimmies]), and a 68-63 (.519) record in 2035 with a second place finish of five teams in their division.

Following the 2035 season, Parkinson was promoted to manager of Class-AA Trenton, where he spent four seasons and compiled a 333-191 (.635) record, going 83-48 (.634) in 2036 with a first place finish of five teams in their division and a playoff appearance (first round exit in Interior Series 2-0 to the Newton Falls Flying Tigers [Long Beach Surfers]), 85-46 (.649) in 2037 with a first place finish of five teams in their division and a championship (2-1 Interior Series win versus St. Joseph Butchers [Twin Cities River Monsters]; 2-0 Series of Accountability win versus Duluth Dragons [Calgary Pioneers]; 3-2 The Final Judgment Series win versus Parker Pilots [Mexico City Aztecs]), 83-48 (.634) in 2038 with a first place finish of five teams in their division and a playoff appearance (2-0 Interior Series win versus Duluth Dragons; 2-1 win versus St. Joseph Butchers; 3-0 The Final Judgment loss to Compton Crush [California Crusaders]), and 82-49 (.626) with a first place finish of five teams in their division and a playoff appearance (2-0 Interior Series loss to Charleston Clippers [Vancouver Mounties]). Parkinson was voted the Warren Cox League Manager of the Year for the 2037 season, punctuating the Generals’ 2037 championship run.

The Atlantic City Gamblers also promoted Mark Kidd from their minor league system to the role of Gamblers’ bench coach. Kidd, 58, is another fiery minor league managerial standout and has made an impact in his relatively short stint in the Gamblers’ system. Kidd started his tenure with the Gamblers’ organization during the 2037 season as manager of Class-Short Season A Bogota for two seasons and compiled a 92-51 (.643) record, going 48-22 (.686) in 2037 with a first place finish of five teams in their division and a championship (2-1 The Face Off Series win versus Aruba Gold [San Antonio Outlaws]; 2-1 The Showdown Series versus Daytona Beach Bikers [Phoenix Talons]; 3-0 Supremacy Series win over Tortuga Tides [Mexico City Aztecs]), and 44-29 (.603) in 2038 with a first place finish of five teams in their division and a championship (2-0 The Face Off Series win versus All Saints Blue Claws [New Orleans Crawdads]; 2-0 The Showdown Series win versus Daytona Beach Bikers; 3-0 Supremacy Series win versus Nassau Jammers [Montreal Blazers]). Kidd won Angela Drake League Manager of the Year honors for both of his championship seasons with Bogota. Following the 2038 season, Kidd was promoted to manager of Class-A Long Island for the 2039 season, finishing 75-56 (.573), second place of five teams in their division.

In a surprising announcement, fired bench coach Joe Lockhart has agreed to rejoin the organization and manage Class-Short Season A Bogota in replacement of Kidd. This will be Lockhart’s first managerial gig at any level.
