With an 8-1 mark, over this last sim the Gamblers have once again taken control of the Frick LEague Atlantic.

2 wins versus Long Beach, a 2-1 homestand versus Vegas , a 2 game sweep in carolina and takeing 2 of the first four games form Buffalo has propelled the Gamblers to 81-72, as they have opened a 4 game lead on Montreal for the division. Of course, all is not won. The last 9 games of the year are very tough, as they are divisional opponents. The Gamblers magic number is at 5, and they still have 2 game sin Buffalo, a huge 4 game set in Montreal, before ending the season at home against Carolina.

The 8-1 sim helped, and if not for a poor outing by Art Messer, the Gamblers might be up 5 games. In the September 15th game against Vegas, the Gamblers took a 2-1 lead into the 9th. Enter MEsser, the clubs closer. After securing out number 1, he would serve up a solo homerun to allow the game to be tied at 2. He would get the next 2 batters on groundouts. Without any scoring on the Gambler side of the 9th, the game went to the 10th. Messer walked the leadoff hitter, then got Out number again on a popup. Another single put runners at the corner. A groundout to third kept it 1st and rd, now with 2 outs. Messer then served up a single to allow the go ahead run would score. Vegas would shut out the Gamblers in the 10th and Messer would earn his 9th loss on the year. He may have 36 saves, but his 9 losses is concerning as we enter the postseason run.

Messer is only one of many reasons the next week will be an exciting one for the Gambler fans - thou it may not be for the weak of heart!
