Gamblers Personnel Departures Announced
The Atlantic City Gamblers have officially announced the departure of three staff members within the organization, two of which have departed following the expiration of their contracts, and one of which has announced his retirement.
José Bruno, 51, has departed the organization following three seasons managing the Gamblers’ Rookie Class affiliate - the Albany Atoms. Bruno finished his career within the Gamblers’ organization with a 155-145 (.517) record, which included a 45-55 (.450) record in 2032, finishing in 4th place of 6 teams in the SNL (R) FL Can-Am division with a .264 batting average, a 4.65 ERA, a 473 runs scored, and 487 runs against; a 56-44 (.560) record in 2033, finishing in 3rd place of 6 teams in the SNL (R) FL Can-Am division with a .272 batting average, a 4.42 ERA, 521 runs scored, and 481 runs against; and a 54-46 (.540) record in 2034, finishing in 3rd place of 6 teams in the SNL (R) FL Can-Am division with a .268 batting average, a 4.27 ERA, 483 runs scored, and 463 runs against. Albany missed the playoffs in all three seasons; however, Bruno is credited with turning around the poor reputation of the Gamblers’ Rookie Class affiliate, which hadn’t recorded a winning record since the 2019 season prior to the 2033 campaign. Bruno has a 276-304 (.476) lifetime record as a manager, which includes a 121-159 (.432) record at the PC (A) level over two seasons with one playoff appearance with the Seville Scholars from 2027-2028; and his 155-145 (.517) record at the Rookie Class level with Albany with zero playoff appearances. Bruno is considered to be a relatively conventional manager from a strategy perspective, with strong micromanaging and disciplinarian tendencies. His influence clearly permeated the organization at the lowest level with the most youthful, impressionable players.
Tim Childs, 52, has departed the organization following 12 seasons as hitting coach for the Gamblers’ Rookie Class affiliate - the Albany Atoms. Over the course of his 12 seasons, Albany recorded a 418-702 (.373) record and did not qualify for the playoffs. During Childs’ tenure, Albany’s batting average was below .240 in one season (2028), .240-.249 in one season (2025), .250-.259 in one season (2031), .260-.269 in three seasons (2023, 2032, 2034), .270-.279 in four seasons (2024, 2027, 2030, 2033), .280-.289 in one season (2029), and .290 in one season (2026). During Childs’ tenure, Albany scored below 300 runs in one season (2025), scored 300-399 runs in four seasons (2023, 2024, 2027, 2028), 400-499 runs in four seasons (2026, 2031, 2032, 2034), 500-599 in one season (2033), 600-699 runs in one season (2029), and 700+ runs in one season (2030).
Emiel Udinga, 63, informed the organization of his intent to retire as pitching coach of the Gamblers’ Class-A affiliate - the Long Island Legion - a position he has held for the past three seasons. Over his three seasons with Long Island, the team recorded a 200-190 (.513) record with one playoff appearance (2034), which included a 58-72 (.446) record in 2032, finishing in 4th place of 5 teams in the CPL (A) BL Northeast division with a 5.00 ERA and 730 runs against; a 67-63 (.515) record in 2033, finishing in 4th place of 5 teams in the CPL (A) BL Northeast division with a 4.84 ERA and 677 runs against; and a 75-55 (.577) record in 2034, finishing in 2nd place of 5 teams in the CPL (A) BL Northeast division with a 4.16 ERA and 576 runs against. Over his 14-year career as a pitching coach, he has compiled a 628-622 (.502) record across three seasons (2021-2023) with the Class Short Season A George Town Islanders (Brooklyn Robins) with no playoff appearances; four seasons (2024-2027) with the Rookie Class Kingston Kodiaks (San Fernando Bears) with three playoff appearances; two seasons (2028-2029) with the Rookie Class Saylorville Nuts (Des Moines Kernels) with no playoff appearances; two seasons (2030-2031) with the Rookie Class Charlottesville Marching Ants (Madison Wolves) with no playoff appearances; and finally his three seasons (2032-2034) with the Long Island Legion. During his career, his teams finished with an ERA between 3.50-3.99 twice (2021, 2025); an ERA between 4.00-4.49 three times (2026, 2028, 2034); an ERA between 4.50-4.99 four times (2024, 2027, 2031, 2033); an ERA between 5.00 and 5.49 three times (2022, 2023, 2032); an ERA between 5.51-5.99 once (2029); and an ERA greater than 6.00 once (2030). "We want to thank Emiel for his contributions to the organization" general manager Joshua Biddle said in a written statement, "after his first season with the organization, we saw an ERA decrease in both subsequent seasons. His feedback has helped our young pitchers and has played a part in their promotion to higher levels over the years. We wish him and his family the best in his retirement as they return to Belgium."

Childs probably had to go. Bruno at least had some success.

Agreed. Tried to bring Bruno back, but he wasn't interested in returning.RonCo wrote:Childs probably had to go. Bruno at least had some success.
