2062-22 Options

I know you were probably expecting another meltdown article about how we lost in the Geoghegan round again, but honestly I was very happy to even make the playoffs so I didn't have much expectations. With our elimination it's time to focus on the offseason and make some key decisions about the options the following players have.
SP Dirk Bessi
2063 Player Option: $14.5 Million
I can't see Bessi NOT opting out of his current contract. The 30-year-old starter just had his best ever season and is currently in the hunt for the Nebraska. I would love to keep him but have to consider the financial implications if he wants long term, either way he's gonna get a ton of cash.
Verdict: Pray to the gods he maybe opts-in, if not then try to work on a deal.
SP Gamal bin Badr
2063 Team Option: $6 million
If bin Badr hadn't suffered a torn labrum just a couple months ago, this would've been an easy opt-in for me. But at 35 years old and at minimum not coming back until late May, I'm not sure if it'd be better to try and grab someone available off the bat.
Verdict: Leaning towards declining the option.
RF Jamie Angwin
2063 Team Option: $12.6 Million
This was a rental pickup who didnt do much plain and simple. Zhi Li should be ready to come back by mid April and i have a few options who can hold until then. No sense in spending that much money.
Verdict: Decline and let walk.
C Luis Gonzales
2063 Team Option: $3.8 Million
I'd really like to keep him on as back-up for Mitchell Goater but not for that price. I'll look to see if we can work on a lower number long-term extension.
Verdict: Decline but work on a deal.
2B Oskar Lojdahl
2063 Team Option: $2.4 Million
It took awhile but he's become a solid major league infielder for the Mounties, whether he slides over to short or stays at second remains to be seen but either way there's no second thoughts on this one.
Verdict: Accept the option.
CF Mike Cox
2063 Team Option: $7.5 Million
I love Cox, as a back-up. Can play all three outfield positions well. Unfortunately I will not look to pay that much for one. Similar to Gonzales' option we'll try to do something more long term.
Verdict: Decline but work on a deal.
