2058-6 Sim #8 Review
SIM RESULTS:
W 5-2 V YS9
W 2-1 V YS9
L 1-2 V CHI
W 2-1 V CHI
W 1-0 V CHI
L 1-4 V CHI
W 18-2 @ DM
5-2
GOOD:
The pitching and defense once again came up huge this week, allowing no more than two runs except once in the seven games played this sim. Sam Fisher improved his record to 8-0 with an astonishly low 2.23 ERA.
With the Mounties defense, they currently lead the league in Zone Rating (+23.9) and Def Efficiency (.729). Thomas Kramer and Reynaldo Serrano have done an excellent job in the infield with Tony Frost also having a diamond glove worthy season. Of course it is still early but many hope this elite defense can keep it up.
The ace that runs the place Gamal bin Badr has been off to another hot start this season that should be noted. He has allowed no more than 2 runs a game in his last eight starts and has looked dominant on the mound. There was certainly a lot of pressure from fans and management alike to take over for Phil Cole, and so far he's lived up to it.
Speaking of Phil Cole, he finally made his 2058 debut after being on the injured list for nearly a year. The Mounties made the controversial call to have Cole skip rehab and instead place him on a stopper role with a strict pitch count. It's paid off so far, as in four games he's allowed no runs and picked up two wins to start the season. With reports that Cole lost a lot of his stamina, some wonder if he'll be better off as the team's stopper, or inserted back into the starter role.
BAD:
Yodo Sato again had another bad week, picking up just one hit in the four game series against Chicago. Whilst he hopefully doesn't become a regular on this part of the list, he really needs to start stepping up his offensive production.
The overall offense was below average outside of the incredible 18 run performance against Des Moines to end the sim. Maybe this could be a sign the bats have finally woken up?
TRANSACTIONS:
P Jimmy Bumble - Minor League Contract
P Jarred Rodda - Minor League Contract
1B Bob Dempsy - Minor League Contract
P Andrei Bugariu - Minor League Contract
STANDINGS:
The Mounties still find themselves fourth place in a tight Pacific Division with a record of 27-24, sitting 5 games back of the division leader Hawaii Tropics. Sim #9 will see the Mounties play the next three games in Des Moines, before taking on the Louisville Cardinals for a 4 game series in Louisville.

Kramer is putting up similiar offensive numbers as last season but his defense is having a resurgence. Hope he keeps it up!

He’s looked really good so far. Had a few errors earlier in the season but has done well since!

Was bummed I couldn’t bring him back last year when he wanted too much.
