100 RBI's for Gutiérrez
September 16th, 2056
Last night DH Jorge Gutiérrez achieved a milestone, becoming the first Mountie to reach 100 RBIs in a season since Daniel Pepper accomplished this feat back in 2052. Gutiérrez's 100th RBI was delivered in the bottom of the seventh inning during last night's 9-3 win over the San Fernando Bears.
The significant moment arrived in the form of a well-executed sacrifice fly. With Bob Irwin standing on third base, the score already sitting at 6-3, Gutiérrez connected with the pitch and sent the ball sailing into the outfield. This resulted in Irwin crossing home plate, extending the Mounties' lead to 7-3. It was a fitting way for Gutiérrez to reach this impressive milestone, contributing to the team's success and reaffirming his reputation as a clutch hitter.
However, even in the glow of this momentous achievement, it's worth noting that Gutiérrez's season hasn't been without its challenges. This year, the slugger has also seen an increase in strikeouts, with a current tally of 123 Ks to his name. That's 40 more strikeouts than he had in the previous season. It's a reminder that even the most accomplished hitters can face their share of ups and downs.
In other news for the Vancouver Mounties, the team announced a contract extension with starting pitcher Gamal bin Badr, securing his services for an additional six years in exchange for a $43 million contract. This agreement comes on the heels of another standout season for bin Badr, solidifying his role as one of the top arms in the Mounties' rotation.
Bin Badr, acquired at the trade deadline last year from the Las Vegas Hustlers, has proven to be a key asset for the Mounties. In his 37 starts since joining the team, he's boasted a record of 16-8, an ERA of 4.23, and an impressive 174 strikeouts. Beyond these traditional stats, his 3.43 FIP and 4.73 WAR further underscore his significant impact on the Mounties' success.
As the soon-to-be 29-year-old signs this contract extension, he expressed his excitement and commitment to the team, emphasizing his desire to maintain his high level of production over the next several years. The Mounties' pitching rotation, led by the likes of Gamal bin Badr and Phil Cole, looks poised for continued success, and fans can anticipate thrilling performances on the mound in the seasons to come.

That's a lot of counting stats for 0.5 WAR! Just a smidge less than Pepper had in 2052.
