2055-9 Heartbreak

MOUNTIES ELIMINATED BY ONE GAME October 1st, 2055
So close, yet so far. If there was one phrase that could describe the season for the Vancouver Mounties it’s that one. There is some upside in that team finished with a winning record for just the third time since 2042. However unlike the other two times, the team will not be participating in the BBA playoffs this year. It came down to the last game. With Vancouver 1 game back from the Tropics on Game 162, the team needed to win and Hawaii needed to lose in order force a tie-breaker game. Deadline acquisition Bin Badr was the pitcher to start the critical game against Portland. He played beautifully, allowing just one run in eight innings pitched. Mahine Karetu, Dylan Malloch and Jorge Guitterez each contributed with a Home Run, with Guitterez's being a two-runner. The Mounties would go onto win 6-1, with Bin Badr picking up his fourth win since being traded to the team. Then it came down to the Tropics, who were taking on the Seattle Storm.

The first six innings saw no runs being scored as both teams starting pitchers (Troy Reynolds for Hawaii, Joe Jackson for Seattle) were dueling it out. However things changed in the seventh inning, when Hawaii left fielder Ramao Saturnino crushed a homerun on Seattle reliever Abdul-Bari bin Badr al Din. That would be the only run scored this game, and the one that would end the Mounties season just one game shy.

"It hurts," says Wharram, "We felt like we had a team ready for the playoffs, but we came up just short and we let the fans down."

The Vancouver Mounties finished the season with an 84-78 record, an are the only team with a winning record to not make the playoffs. Tune in shortly when the End Of Season review is released.

THANK YOU FANS!

Exciting end of season even if you came up 1 game short. Good stuff!
