MOUNTIES ADD NEW FACES AT TRADE DEADLINE TO HELP PLAYOFF PUSH September 1st, 2055
It was a busy few days for GM Aaron Wharram as he frantically made a few deals just before the trade deadline this past week. The team was reportedly ready to go into rebuild mode before Hawaii's August collapse brought the team within just a game of the final wild card spot. With just a few weeks left of the season, lets take a quick look at the players brought in to help the push.

1B Dylan Malloch:

Given his relations with the royal family, Malloch was obviously the right choice to keep in Canada. However, it seemed even more obvious to trade for a man who's wife was just recently voted Sexiest Woman in Alberta for the fourth year in a row. Yes bringing in the power couple has worked wonders for fan interest. Reportedly after the trade went down ticket sales sky rocketed as fans desperately wanted to catch a glimpse of Mina in the ballpark. I mean have you seen her? It's not a wonder it keeps Malloch motivated to play good baseball. Oh yeah I guess we should mention he's a solid first basemen too. While an extension between the two seems unlikely due to the teams tight cap space, we should all enjoy Mina's presence in Vancouver while it lasts.

SS Reynante Alvero:

Brought in during the early hours of the deadline, Alvero should fill a much needed gap on the defensive side with his stellar work at shortstop. Ewan Allman, who was the starting SS, had struggled somewhat on the defensive side, and with his speed not being what it once was, made this low risk move more worth it to Wharram. Alvero also has wheels which will provide another base-running threat that pitchers need to watch out for. The team sent P Kayan Ercan (who was acquired alongside Malloch a couple weeks ago), a decent bullpen option that the team didn't really need to fill. With a team option after this year which would raise his salary up to $7.3 million, more than likely we'll only see him on this team for the remainder of this season.

SP Gamal bin Badr:

This trade took place right at the buzzer, as negotiations with Las Vegas clashed with other teams also interested in trading for P Bret Harrell. Rumors show Wharram reportedly had a deal lined up with the Rocky Mountain Oysters which would've sent back Billy Kelly, before it fell through after the Oysters made a trade with, ironically, Las Vegas. However, bin Badr is a very solid pick up and should slot in as the number two starter behind ace Phil Cole. Unlike the other two players acquired, the Mounties have some team control left with arbitration, would could keep the 27 year old past this season.
