2048.11

GM: "Well that escalated quickly. Any questions? "

Sullivan: "What have you done?!"

GM: "Yes Ms. Sullivan I imagine a lot of the fans are asking that very same question. Well look at it like this. We can lose 85ish games if we keot all that talent or we can lose 90ish and get a lot of interesting returns. Ultimately father time catches up with everything. Yes we are sad to see guys like Castillo, Smith, Yanez and Ramirez go, but Castillo and Ramirez are clearly in their twilight stages. Still solid bats but age is starting to show. Smith is a bit younger but had that monster slump. He seems to have shaken it off a bit but we weren't going to take chances. And then Yanez has just never lived up to his lofty scout potential here. If you look at the totality of the 3 deals we have made here in rapid succession we turned those 4 players along with a bit of salary retention into Wilson Andrade, Millard Younger, Frank Walbourne, Jimmy Bumble, Lonnie Bernard, Ben Bryant, and Paul England. "

Charron: "In case you missed it, Andrade is in a monster slump just like Smith. He also makes an ass ton of money. Why him?"

GM: "Astute as always Guy. Andrade is 2 years younger and still plays fantastic defense. We feel like the trade itself might shake him up and see him perform a bit better at the plate. Almost the same deal with Younger. Hes a bit older but makes less money while still providing that plus defense we are after. If those 2 bats wake up, we are actually in great shape. We could actually be a better team right away post trade if that were to happen. Especially if Walbourne performs like we think he can. "

Renfork: "Walbourne is pretty much in the same boat. Slumping hard."

GM: "Its early yet Niles. And Walbourne just turned 24. He will be fine. We aren't quite sure you'd call him ace material but he is a very young upper echelon pitcher. Thats exactly what we need going forward. "

Jenkins: "Llllleeeeerrrrroooooooyyyyy Jjjjjeeeennnnkkkkiiiinnnnnnssss!"

GM: " Right you are Leroy. We got a couple very interesting prospects in these deals. England looks a good bet for a future rotation spot if he keeps on improving. Bumble has already earned his way into the big league bullpen and could take on a bigger role if we move on some of the vets from there. Bryant is an interesting catching option. His bat doesn't wow anyone but its solid and he can especially draw some walks. At the very least he should be a great asset in the minors for all these pitching prospects to be paired up with. And then we get to Bernard. Absolutely top shelf stuff but profiles as a reliever only. We are thinking of working with him this offseason and transitioning him to a starting role. Could be very interesting. Well I have to run folks. Might have some more action in the trade market soon. "

Optimism... I hate it!

And wow, Andrade took an Act/Pot ratings hit with the move to 3B.

I’m assuming that goes back up as he learns how to play 3b.
