2048.3

GM: "Hello everyone. Opening day is tomorrow. Quite exciting isn't it?"

Jenkins: "Llllleeeeeerrrrrrroooooooooyyyyyyyy Jjjeeeennnnkkkkiiiinnnnsss!!"

GM: "Exactly Leroy. Couldn't have said it better myself. And yes if you were wondering, all 3 of Hinkle, Brodt and Barron are back in the minors. In fact they all are back in AA so they can all play together. I fully expect them to come up to AAA together soon and then by the end of the year who knows? "

Renfork: "Barron is quite possibly the most talented pitcher in the entire organization and you sent him all the way down to AAA?"

GM: "Sure did Niles. Like I said I want them to play together. That team should thrive with them all on it and then it'll be a quick jump to AAA. The other reason I chose this route is because of a trade we just made. We sent youngster Carlos Lara to Vegas for Horst Duineveld. "

Renfork: "Rumor has it Duineveld was going to be waived. Why would you trade an asset for a guy you could get for free?"

GM: "Well I'm sure you haven't forgotten how waivers work right? There was 0 chance we were getting him and Lara hasn't exactly lit the world on fire. Is there a chance this comes back to haunt us? Sure. But we like what Horst will bring to the pen and the clubhouse. Worth it in my opinion."

Charron: "Any surprises on the position player side of things?"

GM: "Relax Guy! No real surprises. We did waive Keith Sanchez in order to make room for an extra arm for awhile. We want to be real cautious with workload early on. With any luck he will clear waivers and stick around in AAA. He'll be back up later if he does. We are still in on Jose Ordonez to further strengthen the pen but should we land him we would open a slot for him by moving a pitcher. With the injury to Pete Brace we are going to let Carey Gray play 2nd. He has a plus glove and some pop so it'll be interesting. Brace will be back pretty quick so its a short term deal."

Sullivan: "Who gets the opening day nod? Miguel Ayala?"

GM: "Right you are Ms. Sullivan. Our 5 man rotation shakes out like this. Ayala, Gerardo Lopez, Shinsaku Ine, Jose Torres and Ivan Ruiz. We shall see how that goes while Barron destroys the minors. First guy of those 5 to slip probably loses his spot to Barron. Hani Goddard is making an interesting case for himself as well. Reminds me of Jon Reed. Blegh hate that guy. Alright folks I have to run. Next time we meet I hope we are celebrating a sweep of those Portland clowns."
