GM: "Good evening folks. I know I've been dodging this as I got my feet wet and started shaping the team for 2048. So its about time we meet and have a chance to chat. I'm not sure I've dealt with many of you before but for these press conferences I like to keep things a little less formal and a little more direct than some of the standard press stuff you might be used to. Let's get straight to it. Questions?"

Jenkins: "Lllleeeeeerrrrrroooooooyyyyyy Jjjjjjeeeeeennnnnnnkkkkkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnns!!!!"

GM: "Wow. What are you doing here Leroy? I haven't seen you since I left Vegas. You writing for a sports blog up here now?"

Jenkins: "Llleeeerrroooyy!"

GM: "Miniature Mounties Blog eh. Well I'm glad to see you still focus on the youngsters. Oh and for the rest of you. I speak Jenkins. Its essentially a foreign language. You'll get used to it."

Jenkins: "Jjjeeeennnnkkkkiiiinnnnsss??"

GM: "Straight to the point huh Leroy. I've always liked that about you. Yes for spring training we did call up a few of the kids to see how they will handle it. Most notably Mike Brodt, Jose Barron and Davenport Hinkle. Barron is basically ready to go but there are a million other arms in front of him. So he will need to shine to earn a spot. He will likely start the season in AAA but we will give him a shot. Hinkle and Brodt aren't ready yet but we want them to get acclimated to the big league staff and clubhouse. Truth be told we really want to kickstart Brodt's development so he will get a lot of chances this spring. With any luck he can be a fixture on the team by the end of the season. Next question? Yes?"

Charron: "Guy Charron from the Vancouver Sun. How key for you was the Luis Pena signing?"

GM: "Guy Charron? You sound awfully familiar. You don't look like a ballplayer though. Have we met?"

Charron: "Yes in fact I am a former ballplayer. You signed me as a free agent at one point. I was an outfielder. At any rate. Luis Pena?"

GM: "Oh I do remember you! Sorry it takes a bit to remember guys who didn't do anything significant. Not that I'm judging. We can't all be Elroy Hinson. Ummm Pena. He was the highest priority we had all off season. I have to say previous management did a fine job assembling this team. There were only a few holes and SS was one of them. If we fill those holes and guys like Pena perform like we think they can, the team will be in great shape this season. Sorry folks I'll be right back. "
