TVT 2047.12 - Childress Injury

Post by StormZ_23 » Sun Jul 11, 2021 4:46 pm

Well...it was only a matter of time. When the Mounties selected Rick Childress with the 9th overall pick in the 2046 draft, we all knew the injury risk. However, we didn't think it would happen so soon. Recently, Childress was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff in his throwing arm during his start against the Valencia Stars. As soon as he fell to the ground in agony, we all knew the outlook wasn't good.

Childress entered the league as a near BBA ready pitcher out of college. After he signed with the Mounties, he spent the remainder of the 2046 season on a pitch count. He pitched very well in AAA and was given a big league rotation spot to start the 2047 season. The results were a bit shaky at first, but after the first couple months, Childress showed that he belonged. He has the third most WAR out of all Mounties starters and he was getting better every start. However, we knew the risks. He entered the league with a history of elbow inflammation. Unfortunately, we now know it was only a matter of time before he got injured again. Not only does this halt Childress' young career for the next 13 months, this really hinders the Mounties playoff chances. Currently they are sitting just outside the final wild card spot. There's been rumors of trades for a while. Now, the Mounties will have to act if they want to push for the playoffs. If they weren't looking for a starting pitcher before, they definitely are now.

Good luck to Childress. Let's hope the Mounties pitching curse has been put to an end.
