We tend to forget that injuries exist in baseball. But when they happen, they can brutal. Fortunately, we don't really see many long term injuries in the Mounties organization. Unfortunately, luck always runs out. Former second round pick Carlton Hurt has been sidelined for the rest of the season as the result of elbow reconstruction surgery.
Hurt was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2046 draft. He was one of the pitchers who looked BBA ready coming out of college. However, the Mounties opted to stick him in AAA where he produced some solid numbers. He was competing for a starting rotation spot back in spring training, but the Mounties sent him back to AAA. Unfortunately, in just his 4th start of the season, Hurt needed to come out of the game after experiencing elbow pain. As baseball fans, we all know that if a pitcher comes out of a game with elbow pain, it's likely to be the end of their season. Will the Mounties regret no putting him on the opening day roster? Was this injury inevitable? Who knows? All we know is that a 21 year old pitcher has had 1 year of his career taken away from him. Let's hope he comes back strong than ever.
We send our best wishes to Carlton.
